Dolpan Hwajoo, a Korean restaurant from Busan, has opened its first Singapore outlet at Tanjong Pagar. The restaurant is known for its signature hot stone-style dishes, with several dishes prepared and torched right at your table for a more interactive dining experience.

Located just a 5-minute walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT Station, the restaurant has a cozy interior that gives off the vibes of a Korean drinking spot — making it a fitting place for a casual meal or drinks with friends.

Given Dolpan Hwajoo’s speciality in hot stone-style dishes, these are definitely what you should look out for. The Cheese Deunggalbi ($48), featuring spicy pork ribs paired with melted cheese. They torched the cheese right in front of you with a blowtorch, adding an experiential experience! The pork ribs were tender and juicy, while the melted cheese added a rich and savoury layer that complemented the spicy pork well. The portion is also pretty generous, a good option for sharing between 2~3 people.

Another dish worth ordering is the Rose Dakdori ($46), which features chicken in a spicy broth topped with a generous layer of cream. Despite its name, the broth isn’t particularly spicy. Instead, it is fragrant and creamy, with a comforting richness that pairs especially well with rice. If you’re looking for something hearty, this would be one to consider.

Of course, no Korean restaurant experience would be complete without some makgeolli. Dolpan Hwajoo offers four flavoured makgeolli options ($22 each), including Ube, Strawberry, Apple Mango and Shine Muscat.
For those working around the CBD, Dolpan Hwajoo also offers lunch sets from $17.50. So if you are looking for a quick Korean lunch without having to travel far from the Tanjong Pagar area, make sure you bookmark this spot!
